Taxpayer's Registration

Every taxpayer shall apply in the prescribed form and in the prescribed manner for registration which is described below. The Commissioner having jurisdiction over a case, where necessitated by the facts of the case, may also register a taxpayer in the prescribed manner.

From tax year 2015 and onwards, in case of individuals having Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) issued by the National Database and Registration Authority, CNIC shall be used as National Tax Number

Compulsory registration in certain cases

Not with standing anything contained in any law, for the time being in force, any application for commercial or industrial connection of electricity or natural gas, shall not be processed and such connection shall not be provided unless the person applying for electricity or gas connection is registered under section 181.

Document Required For NTN and Sales Tax Registration For Individuals

Following documents are required for registration of NTN and Sales Tax for Individual category;

1. NTN Registration For Salaried Individual

  • Taxpayer Registration Form (TRF-01)
  • Original CNIC
  • Mobile Number in the name of Applicant
  • Personal Email Address
  • Payslip / Employment Letter
  • Paid Utility Bill (within last three month from the date of Application)

2. NTN Registration For Business Individuals / Proprietor

  • Taxpayer Registration Form (TRF-01)
  • Original CNIC
  • Mobile Number in the name of Applicant
  • Personal Email Address
  • Business Premises Ownership Documents / Tenancy Agreement along with Owners CNIC Copy
  • Paid Utility Bill (within last three month from the date of Application)

3. Sales Tax Registration For Business Individuals / Proprietor

In case of Individual Sales Tax Registration Taxpayer will present personally along with all above said documents

Note: In case of Modification in Individual Particulars all above said documents along with Individual Bank Maintenance Certificate will be present in FBR Regional Office.

Document Required For NTN and Sales Tax Registration For AOP / FIRM

Following documents are required for registration of NTN and Sales Tax for AOP/Firm category;

1. NTN Registration For Firm / AOP / Trust / Foundation

For NTN registration of Firm / AOP / Trust / one of the Partner will present in Income Tax Office along with the following Documents

  • Taxpayer Registration Form (TRF-01)
  • Authority Letter in favour of one Member/Partner for presentation of documents in FBR on behalf of Firm (Signed and thumbed by all Members/ Partners)
  • Member / Partner Original CNIC
  • Email Address of AOP / Trust / Foundation
  • Mobile Number in the Name of Member/Partner which is not used in NTN Registration before
  • Business Premises Ownership Documents / Tenancy Agreement along with Owner CNIC Copy
  • Paid Utility Bill (within last three month from the date of Application)
  • Original Partnership Deed / Trust Deed / Foundation MOA and AOA
  • Original Registration Certificate

2. Sales Tax Registration Of AOP / Firm

For AOP / Firm Sales Tax Registration one of Member/Partner will present in FBR Regional Tax Office along with following additional documents

  • Request Application for Sales Tax Registration
  • Member / Partner Original CNIC
  • Authority letter in favour of member / Partner to proceed Sales Tax Registration in FBR (Authority Letter must be signed and thumbed by all the members / Partners.

Note: In case of Modification in AOP/Firm Particulars all above said documents along with AOP/Firm Bank Maintenance Certificate will be present in FBR Regional Office.

Document Required For NTN and Sales Tax Registration For Company

Following documents are required for registration of NTN and Sales Tax for Company;

1. NTN Registration of Company

For NTN registration of COMPANY one of the Director will present in Income Tax Office along with the following Documents

  • Taxpayer Registration Form (TRF-01)
  • Authority Letter in favour of Director/CEO for presentation of documents in FBR on behalf of Company (Signed and thumbed by all Directors/CEO)
  • Director / CEO Original CNIC
  • Email Address of Company
  • Mobile Number in the Name of Directors/CEO which is not used in NTN Registration before.
  • Business Premises Ownership Documents / Tenancy Agreement along with Owners CNIC Copy
  • Paid Utility Bill (within last three month from the date of Application)
  • Original Incorporation Certificate
  • Certified True Copies of MOA and AOA
  • Certified True Copy of FORM 29
  • Certified True Copy of FORM 1
  • Certified True Copy of FORM 21

2. Sales Tax Registration of Company

For Company Sales Tax Registration one of Directors/CEO will present in FBR Regional Tax Office along with following additional documents;

  • Request Application for Sales Tax Registration
  • Director / CEO Original CNIC

Authority letter in favour of Director/CEO to proceed Sales Tax Registration in FBR (Authority Letter must be signed and thumbed by all the Directors / CEO.

Note: In case of Modification in Company Particulars all above said documents along with Company Bank Maintenance Certificate will be present in FBR Regional Office.
